Some of my plants go to seed (bolt) very fast?Updated 3 months ago

The most common cause for plants going to seed, or bolting, is growing cool weather varieties during the warmer months. Check the back of your seed packets for best times to grow.

Another problem could be the variety of a particular plant you are growing. For example, a lot of coriander varieties aren't a slow bolt version and will tend to go to seed very fast in warm conditions. A slow bolt variety can be grown vey successfully during these times. It pays to do a quick online search for slow bolt varieties suited to your area.

Sometimes the only way to get to the root cause (pun intended) is to experiment with different seed types. We have often found the very cheap seeds give superior results to the expensive with regards to germination and quality.
